Boston Strong——3 years later

BOSTON STRONG

It really is hard to believe that it has been 3 years (4/15/2013) since the Boston Marathon was forever changed.
Three years ago, I was the morning show Assignment Editor at Fox25 News. Today—I’m the Project Coordinator at Absolute Landscaping. And now— I sit back, and reflect on that tragic day.
I will never forget leaving my shift at Fox 25 , taking my usual afternoon nap, and then getting a text that there was a bombing at the Boston Marathon finish line. I couldn’t believe it. How could this be happening on what is always an incredible day in the city of Boston?
I knew that being in the news business, there was going to be some long, long days ahead. People were killed, people were injured. It was just too much to handle. But as news people—we had a job to do. But it was difficult to put our ‘feelings’ as a human being aside. My grandson’s 6th birthday party was that week, but I knew that I would not be going. And he was too young to understand why I could not be there. That’s what did it for me. My family is the most important thing in the world to me. And all because of the Tsarnaev brothers—I had to miss that special day.
I stuck it out another year in the news business. But on the anniversary of the bombing—I wanted no part of talking about it. I left the news business a few months later. It was the best decision I ever made. I can honestly say—that I will NEVER miss my grandson’s birthday again. BOSTON STRONG— —————ALWAYS.
